Infants and Children
Chiropractic care ensures healthy movement, posture, and nervous system function, helping your child thrive at every stage.
We recommend all infants have their spines checked early, ideally within the first month. Even smooth deliveries can stress the spine, and interventions like vacuums, forceps, or C-sections can add further strain.
Children’s nervous systems develop rapidly, especially in their first three years, when 85% of their neurological growth takes place. This period is also crucial for spinal health, as a baby’s spine grows 50% in length during their first year.
Watch for signs of spinal issues or tension, such as
Difficulty turning their head or neck to the right and left
Preference of looking to one side (torticollis)
Breastfeeding challenges (clicking, pain, milk spilling out of the mouth,
blistered lips on the baby, etc)Uneven head or facial shape (plagiocephaly, scaphocephaly, or
brachycephaly)Resisting tummy time
Asymmetric crawling (army crawl) or bum scotching
Growing pains, postural imbalances, or "W" sitting
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding and having an effective comfortable latch is something Dr. Madison is very passionate about.
Breastfeeding is tough enough all on its own. It’s even more difficult if your baby has difficulty looking one direction, is having a tough time latching or has a problem with their tongue or jaw. Chiropractic can help by addressing spinal joints, specifically in an infant’s neck, cranial bones and jaw (TMJ). Chiropractic adjustments improve cranial nerve function (V, VIII, IX, XII) and overall nervous system tone which allows breastfeeding to become much more relaxed and effective.
